Role: Market Access Director
Location: Based in Scotland (commuting distance from Edinburgh) 

Package: Negotiable base salary depending on experience plus a range of benefits including bonus, pension, health insurance.

Our Client is a rapidly growing speciality pharmaceutical company engaged in the development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for the treatment of unmet therapeutic needs in major markets. 
They are entering an exciting pre-launch phase with an array of development and in-licensed global products which will join an expanding, successful product portfolio. With more than 300 people employed by the Company, it is headquartered in Scotland with commercial operations throughout the rest of the UK and continental Europe and a US head office. 

They are seeking to recruit a Market Access Director. The Market Access Director is a strategic role that engages early and builds relationships with key stakeholders (such as governments, horizon scanning agencies, regulatory authorities, national pricing and reimbursement committees and technology assessment groups) in the healthcare system and with insurance providers to increase awareness of the company's brands so that they are adequately prepared for reimbursement at optimal pricing post marketing authorisation. This role will also be responsible for engaging and building relationships with national patient organisations and charity groups to effectively map out the patient journey and needs so that they can be supported by the company. In addition the role will be responsible for engaging at the highest level in government to help influence access of products for patients. To develop and support an integrated Market Access approach including Health Economics solutions to assist market access initiatives, national and local, working with a wide range of key internal and external customers.
Your key responsibilities as a Market Access Director will include:
Act as a professional ambassador to support bringing new therapeutic treatments to stakeholders by building key strategic relationships throughout the payer community, patient organisations and with national related bodies including lobbying Government, to enable effective partnering and influencing at a national/regional level
Lead the development, project management, Health Technology Assessments (HTA) submissions to obtain successful recommendations nationally
Source local data relevant to the collation of National HTA submissions/reimbursements and liaise with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and external advisers in the region to validate assumptions and perspectives
Actively contribute to Advisory Panels and other interactions which inform country understanding of environmental challenges relevant to the introduction of new products, or enhanced access to others
Deliver health economic and real world evidence data collection, analyses (including models) and support to articulate the products value to payers in alignment with the agreed market access strategy
Understand government priorities which have the potential to impact market access
Engage in strong long-term relationships with payers and insurance companies and their influencers
Provide leadership and strategic direction in order to ensure funding and that company products obtain and maintain optimal pricing, reimbursement status and listing on tenders, while facilitating patient access to the best available treatment and service redesign
Support the development of code compliant market access strategy, materials and solutions as agreed in the business plan

 


Qualifications

A degree in life sciences or marketing preferred (or equivalent) ABPI Full UK Driving Licence

Person experience required

Strong strategic commercial insight through developing national market access strategies in the pharmaceutical industry Health Economics background Successfully navigated through multiple Health Technology Appraisals (HTAs) Political lobbying experience Extensive and up to date knowledge of the local healthcare environment regulations, policies and procedures at national and sub-national level Possess expert national knowledge of reimbursement processes in healthcare via government and or insurance companies Clear track record of working with customers, patient organisations and stakeholders, to influence, define and implement market access strategies and plans Extensive experience in pharmaceutical sales Advanced negotiation skills Project management expert
